Description:  What is the difference between abuse resistant and impact-resistant gypsum boards? What are the different types of abuseand impact-resistant gypsum boards available? How do theseproducts compare with regular gypsum or alternate methodsof construction? This course covers product types andperformance attributes of each system to educate architects andend users. This course assists with making the appropriateproduct selections based on the required level of performance. 

Learning Objectives:  

• Review the ASTM C1629 classification system for abuse-resistant panels and minimum performance requirements tomeet the established criteria for each Classification Level. 

• Compare the performance of standard, abuse resistant, andimpact-resistant gypsum products and identify specializedapplications for each product type. 

• Understand the definitions of abuse resistant and impact-resistant products and the differences between theseproducts and standard gypsum boards.

• Review each of the four ASTM test methodologies thatcomprise ASTM C1629: 

1. ASTM D4977 Surface Abrasion
2. ASTM D5420 Surface Indentation
3. ASTM E695 Soft Body Impact
4. Annex A1 Hard Body Impact
